A pagination of academic papers this is usually one of the last steps after drafting the text. However, it is very important to assist in the construction of the summary, in addition to being taken into account in the assessments for compliance. ABNT standard about the format, location and where the numbering starts in the document.
IN Google docs, the company’s online text editor that runs as part of Google Drive, can properly paginate while respecting technical standards. With just a few steps and minimal file modification, you can enter numbers in academic or school pattern and start counting and page visibility from the point you want.
1. Open the document where pagination will be added. Enter “Format” in the top menu and access the option “Page numbers”.
2. In the settings window that appears on the screen, click on “Header” and go straight to “Apply”.
At this point, the most important thing is to correctly issue and place the number: ABNT requires pagination in the headerWith indent to the right 2 cm from the field and with size 10. The font is the same as in the text, usually Arial or Times New Roman.
3. If you need to customize this, select a number on any page and change the size, font, or spacing with your own Google Docs icons. The change is applied to all titles automatically.
4. Now you need to set from what moment the pagination countdown starts and, most importantly, when the numbering starts to be displayed. In the ABNT standard the bill starts on the title page and never on the cover. Although, number visibility only starts in the intro. This means that pre-text elements such as Dedication, Table of Contents, List of Tables and Epigraph, for example, are taken into account without specifying a number in the upper right corner.
That’s why, “pull” the contents of the last page you don’t want to be numbered (usually end of summary) with the following content (which is probably the beginning of the introduction).
5. Go to “Insert”, select item “Smash” and click on “Section break (next page)”. The content will play on the next page.
By making a section break, you’ve split the document in two without making any changes to the content. This means that you can only flip through it from the second and new half.
6. To begin this step, double-click on the top of the first page to be paginated (beginning of the introduction) to open the title. uncheck option “Link to previous section”. This means that section 2 is now completely independent of the previous one.
7. Return to the menu “Insert” and option “Page number”. There, select the first suggested template (with pagination at the top and right alignment).
8. On the page where Section 2 begins, double-click at the top to open the title. Enter “Options” and then further “Page numbers”.
In the “Apply” section, change the selected option to “This section forward”. In the “Numbering” field, select the item “Begin with”. In a text box enter the number you want to see first remembering the instructions about not counting the cloak. For example, if the paper has five sheets before the Introduction, the first numbered one (Introduction) will be the sixth sheet, but number 5, which is the total number of pages minus the cover.
9. Go back to the first pages of the document that are in section 1. Note that they are still paginated, but you can open the hat and erase the numbers without affecting what was configured in the previous steps.
Ready! The pagination now starts from where you defined it and from the number you calculated based on the ABNT elements.
Basic pagination in a file can also be performed by the mobile version of Google Docs, both for Android and for iOS.
1. Open a document and tap the pencil icon to edit it.
2. Select positive form button (“+”)go to option “Page number”.
3. On the new screen, select the desired pattern. The first is full numbering from the first page, while the second leaves the cover aside but starts showing numbers from the next page.
That is, although pagination in the ABNT model is possible in the Google Docs mobile app, ideally you should use the desktop or web version of the platform to make this configuration. On mobile devices formatting options are more limited and don’t offer as many customizations when on a computer.
