PS5 sellers are having trouble selling their “obsolete” consoles

Speculation and scalping were without a doubt two of the biggest problems that accompanied the PS5 at its launch. Due to the low availability and high demand for the mentioned console, an important movement of speculators was created, which constantly poured all PS5 stock and took the opportunity to later resell it for double or even triple its prices.

This scenario also coincided with a time when the price of graphics cards was inflated due to the high demand for them to be used in cryptocurrency mining rigs. It was a difficult moment and some played their cards so well that they made a lot of money by reselling these consoles at an astronomical price.

Over time, the situation normalized and today we can say that it is finally possible to buy a PS5 directly, in a store and without a problem. Without further ado, at the time of this writing I looked on Amazon and found PS5 with optical drive and the game God of War Ragnarok on sale for 569 euros.

It’s clear that reselling PS5 consoles at inflated prices no longer makes sense, and this explains why speculators are having trouble clearing the inventory of units they still have accumulated. Some choose sell them by slightly reducing the price, a move that is ultimately a clear attempt to minimize losses, although there are still people trying to sell it second-hand for more than it would cost new. It’s absurd, but you know when it’s tense, it’s tense.

The fact is, if we do an in-depth analysis of the current situation, these consoles are not worth buying even if they are on sale, for three main reasons. The first is that they are units of old models that have become obsoleteRemember that since the arrival of the PS5, Sony has released two redesigned and improved versions of the said console, in fact the latest it comes with an APU built on a 6nm node.

The second reason is that these consoles may already be a considerable amount of time since they were purchased, and it is very likely that they will be do not come with a warranty. If it breaks, you won’t be able to claim anything because you won’t be covered under warranty. Finally, there is also an ethical issue, that is, these people stopped you from buying a PS5 at the normal price at the time because they wanted to get rich by manipulating the market, so They don’t deserve you buying anything from them.
