Elon Musk pays Stephen King, LeBron James and William Shatner a blue check on Twitter

Elon MuskIn addition to being the owner, he wants to be the absolute protagonist Twitter, even if it costs him to get into all the puddles he finds on his way. The mogul’s latest move targeted three celebrities who kept their blue verification because they chose not to pay for a Twitter Blue subscription.

The three celebrities who withheld a blue check unpaid are William Shatnerthe Canadian actor who first voiced Captain Kirk for Star Trek; Stephen king, a well-known and prolific writer of horror novels; and LeBron James, a veteran NBA superstar currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the reality is that the social network did not break its own rules (or at least not from a purely aseptic interpretation), but was Elon Musk himself, who decided to pay Twitter Blue for them.

Stephen King explained that his own account had warned him that he was subscribed to Twitter Blue and that the social network had his phone number, but that he had not done any process in this regard. This was answered by Elon Musk who said:you are welcome, best regards”, meaning the mogul paid for a subscription and used Stephen King’s phone number without his permission.

The end of Twitter’s old authentication system is more than expected by the company behind the social network, but that hasn’t prompted all celebrities to checkout and sign up for Twitter Blue. Elon Musk explained that he only paid for the subscriptions of William Shatner, LeBron James and Stephen King., but his reasons did not go beyond that. The fact that some famous people don’t have blue verification could make Twitter less attractive as a platform, so it’s not unlikely that Musk’s reasons are at least partly selfish.

On the other hand, Stephen King was not shy long ago to say that Elon Musk “fit in terribly on Twitter” after the tycoon became the owner of the company behind the social network, although he considered him a visionary in his management around the electric car brand Tesla. Is paying a blue check an attempt to settle? The truth is that Musk, at least on the surface, doesn’t seem humble enough to do something like this out of simple altruism.

The success of Twitter Blue is unknown because it is not known how many users have signed up for the program, which provides access to powerful features such as the ability to write messages of up to 10,000 characters. However, the possible browsing of the box does not compensate those who mainly devote themselves to the consumption of content published on the social network.
