Google One VPN is now available to all subscribers. The Internet giant is thus improving its entry offer for all users of its payment plan, with which it will expand the storage space of its cloud services for the consumer market, which enriches a priori such interesting additions as the one that concerns us.

For context: Anyone can create a free Google account, which gives you 15GB of cloud storage spread across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. And if you need more? That’s when you sign up for one of the Google One plans: from the basic 100 GB for 1.99 per month or 19.99 per year (dollars, euros), up to 30 TB and everything in between.

In addition to expanding storage, Google is looking to create subscriptions Google One with various add-ons: technical assistance, more options in Android backups, occasional discounts in the Play Store, access to exclusive features in their products (for example, the magic eraser of Google Photos)… The benefits vary (for example, they used to offer three free months of Google Stadia).

Google VPN is indeed one of the add-ons that the company makes available to Google One subscribers. A service that, as you know, consists of creating an Internet connection that overlays your own system and thus creates an encrypted connection that masks the user’s IP exterior doors for added security and privacy, among other things.

Google’s VPN debuted on Android in late 2020, came to iOS a little over a year later, and later did the same for Windows and Mac. With a catch: only subscribers of Google One Premium plans (from 2 TB) had it at their fingertips. Until now, so that Google VPN can already be used by all Google One subscribers, regardless of their plan. So you have a VPN for 1.99 per month or 19.99 per year (dollars / euros).

Google OneVPN

Who you might be wondering if it’s worth itBecause you are worth it, it costs very little economically. And the answer is: it depends. It depends on what you are looking for. As with other services, Google VPN guarantees a stable and fast experience and also hides your IP from all outgoing connections, including your ISP. Unlike other services, Google VPN doesn’t let you choose your location, so you can forget about cheating.

Then there’s the elephant in the room, because one of the main reasons to use a VPN is privacy, and we already know that privacy and Google aren’t exactly synonymous. According to official information, “Google will never use a VPN connection to record, sell or track your browsing activity.«. But you have to believe it, of course. The truth is that it is open source software, even if what the user is using is precompiled.

Be that as it may, if you’re a Google user and even more so a Google One subscriber, it’s very likely that you already use their services like Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Maps, etc. that the company doesn’t need to track you to got your information because it already has it. So using Google VPN can be the most convenient counter.

If you’re interested in trying it out, you can download Google VPN for Windows and Macwhile for Android and iOS You will find it integrated in the options of the Google One applications themselves. However, keep in mind that while using a VPN is recommended for the privacy and security benefits it provides, not everything is positive and your connection speed will be severely limited.
