With the proliferation of chatbots, it’s increasingly difficult to stand out from the competition, but Forefront’s proposition is unmistakable one of the most original we’ve seen so far, something that is definitely appreciated. We may question its utility, although I personally think it’s on the low side in that regard, and I’ll explain why later, but regardless, I have no doubt that it will at least provide some really fun conversation moments, and maybe some more conversation that worth remembering in the future.
The underlying technology in Forefront is GPT-3.5, although it’s true that the tool can also provide access to GPT-4, so in the first place we could expect a similar experience to what ChatGPT already provides. However, the company identifies this new chatbot as “improved ChatGPT environment”, the most interesting assumption. What is it doing and offering now to confirm that it can improve the experience that the OpenAI chatbot already provides? Is this statement correct?
The answer to the second question is clearly yes.. I said at the beginning that there are reasons that make Forefront a really interesting chatbot, to the point that if you’re also interested in this type of service, you’ll definitely want to try it out. And in that case, the first good news is that it is a free service. So, either because you find the idea very interesting or simply because you are interested, just click on this link, register as a user and you will be able to start using it.
But hey, let’s answer the main question, which is why Forefront is worth it, and the first one is that provides free access to GPT-4. When you’re in the chat, all you have to do is click on the “+” sign that appears to the right of the text field in which prompts and in the menu that appears, you can choose a new OpenAI model.
Another feature that stands out the most is this chatbot gives you access to a variety of real and fictional personalities (emulated via AI of course). The repertoire, as you can see in the image below, is hugely varied, with options ranging from Einstein to Hermione Granger, an interesting duo consisting of Shakespeare and Drake, Pikachu, Picasso or the adorable but short Groot (and yes, this particular chatbot does exactly that , what you expect from him). This feature clearly reminds me of Poe’s feature for creating custom bots, but in this case, instead of defining them yourself, you’re left with a wide and fun selection. You’ll be able to speak Spanish with most of them, but some, like Jar Jar Binks (yes, they’re that brave), will always respond in English.
As you can already imagine, so many options can lead to the accumulation of a large number of conversations, and here we find another exclusive feature, at least for now, of the Forefront chatbot, which is that it offers more advanced management to them, by allowing you to use folders to organize them. At the moment, ChatGPT stores all the history in one place, and at the moment we are waiting for the Bing chatbot to finally add the expected history, but in the meantime, this new option is already one or more steps ahead.
After testing this chatbot for a while with several of its personalities, both GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, the first feeling is the most positive, considering that we are talking about a plugin-free chatbot. As I said at the beginning, Forefront faces more than growing competition in a market that has already seemingly hatched, so it will have to face difficulties to get a piece of the pie. However, if they manage to achieve a good level of visibility and continue the path of innovation that they have already shown in their first proposal, it can be expected, even hoped, that they will be able to gain a permanent place in this market.
