US concerned about China’s success in high-speed connectivity

The fear is that other countries will take the lead in setting standards for 6G connectivity and news from China only raises US concerns. The 25th Institute of the Second Academy of Aerospace Sciences and Industry of China reported that successful wireless transmission at the terahertz (THz) frequency level has reached a data rate of 100 Gbps for the first time. However, a 1 Gbps 5G signal is considered great in the US.

The technology uses THz frequencies, such as mm wave spacing for 5G, which presents issues with signal distance and cloud/fog penetration. However, THz communication can provide nearly the same quality of wireless transmission as fiber optic transmission. With the unexpected 6G wireless launch by 2030, this new technology is a major development that could lead to incredible new services in the entertainment, automotive and healthcare industries.
