A passenger told NBC News that the plane’s captain informed everyone on the plane about what had happened. John Fisher reported that the noise of birds hitting the plane’s engine could be heard before it caught fire.
According to the passenger, the pilot of the plane turned off the engines so that the damage was not great, and was able to return to the airport. Fortunately, the plane managed to land safely on the runway at Columbus Airport, taxiing to the boarding gate so that passengers could safely exit the plane.
