Apple is in the midst of a technological transition to OLED across its iPad and MacBook product families in 2024.leaving mini LED technology behind. The rumor began in recent days after information indicating possible talks between the Cupertino-based company and LG Display.
According to the latest report, the tech giant will be in talks with LG Display to include third-party hardware.in an effort to speed up the production of new monitors. OLED technology is expected to make screens thinner and lighter, as well as provide better image quality.
According to The Elec, Apple chose Canon Tokki OLED vaporizers for its upcoming OLED displays because of their reliability. This equipment is used to apply organic layers to the panel and evaporate them to emit light. However, the price of such equipment is considered high, which can be a problem for Apple.
Apple is looking for a way to lower the cost of manufacturing OLED displays for its devices, and discussions with LG Display suggest the company is considering switching to Sunic Systems technology. While the Canon Tokki is the most reliable option, its hardware is very expensive, which could lead Apple to look for more affordable alternatives.
LG and Sunic Systems are collaborating on a new project to develop the 8th generation OLED vaporizer. It is hoped that lower manufacturing costs will make the technology more accessible to other companies, which could lead to greater adoption of OLED panels by consumers in various market sectors.
In order to reduce production costs, Sunic System is working on an 8th generation OLED vaporizer for Apple. LG Display is also interested in introducing horizontally sprayed half-cut OLED coils that can be produced at a cost 40% lower than Canon Talkie equipment.
With the expansion of Apple products to laptops and tablets, Sunic System can increase its market share in the 8th generation OLED deposition equipment. Starting next year, the company plans to launch iPads and MacBooks equipped with the first 6th generation OLED panels in the lineup.
The industry predicts that OLED displays for mid-range IT products such as the MacBook will be in the 8th generation lineup in the future, which could benefit Sunic System and other players in the display industry.
