Microsoft has added several key features for editing PDF files to OneDrive, the cloud storage service that is expanding its capabilities. beyond normal file storage.
PDF is one of the most important storage formats for digital documents in the technology industry, and there are a wide variety of solutions (both free and commercial) that can work with it, although it should be noted that its support is quite different from just being able to read its content (as this is done by the main web browsers on the market) to the ability to create, edit and convert it to and from other formats.
Microsoft supports editing PDFs with the word processor Word after converting to a custom format, but the improvements in question are for OneDrive. They have been detailed in the Microsoft 365 roadmap and will be useful as you will be able to better work with the format in the same storage service without leaving your web browser.
First and foremost is the ability to annotate a document with hand-drawn ink directly from OneDrive using the Edit option. This will allow quickly sign a form or contractfill in some data and perform other functions without the need to use a local editor or specialized tool.
The second function affects fillable forms. If the PDF contains any of these, it will be possible to fill them directly from OneDrive. After editing, this PDF file can be saved to a storage service. Both functions will be useful. It’s not like a storage client has the capacity of dedicated format apps, but if you have an account and store your files in it, these types of integrations always come in handy.
Although there are high-quality alternatives, there is a general consensus that Microsoft 365 is the most comprehensive computing solution for productivity and collaboration in the industry. OneDrive is an important part of it. Microsoft is expanding it in every way, including its default installation on Windows or replacing the cheap 100GB capacity plan with Microsoft 365 Basic, the cheapest version of the suite at $2 per month.
