The Exynos 2400 will be Samsung’s next proprietary SoC for mobile devices. Designed for high-end, the first filtered data that comes to us from results are prospective. If confirmed, Samsung could compete in terms of performance, as well as against development partners such as Qualcomm.

As you know, Samsung designs and manufactures its own mobile chipsets with the Exynos family. A strategy used by other manufacturers, with Apple being the biggest exponent. Faced with them, a global manufacturer like Qualcomm sells its development to anyone who licenses it. Samsung is one of them and combines them with its own even in the same product line, as happened with its flagship line, the Galaxy S. In comparison, Exynos have always been below Qualcomm’s development in performance and very far from Apple’s development.

The results that come to us from the Geekbench 5 benchmark tell us an average of 1530 points when working with one core and a maximum of 1711. Considering that this is an improvement over previous Samsung SoCs, they are still below the Apple Bionic A16.

Much better in multi-core with 10 cores that the Exynos 2400 is said to have, where it averages 6,210 points and peaks at 6,967. Not bad at all considering that would outperform on multi-core by 31% results obtained by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, currently the most powerful from Qualcomm, and also on Apple A16.

Another even more interesting point would be integrated graphics, Xclipse 940, more powerful than the Adreno 750 used by Qualcomm. In this field, Samsung can excel thanks to the alliance with AMD and the base that would provide Radeon with four compute units, 256 shaders, 16 texturing units, 8 raster units and two cores to accelerate ray tracing.

Promising results, but not much else. There is no confirmation of the truth of the information, even if we did, you know that synthetic tests They don’t tell everything about performance In the real world. In addition, Samsung is not expected to have this Exynos 2400 available until 2024, and by then both Apple and Qualcomm will have released further developments with higher performance than the current ones.

It is believed that Samsung wants to have its new SoC available for the launch of the Galaxy S24, but it is not clear whether it will use it in all versions of the phone. Qualcomm can bring Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, rebrand the ground and force Samsung to keep using it. Wait and see.
