South Korean automakers are lobbying the Biden administration for new rules to prevent cars made outside of the US from receiving a $7,500 tax credit on electric vehicles, which would boost the company’s US presence.

Hyundai said in a statement that the battery plant for electric vehicles will be built in Bartow, Georgia. The site will start producing batteries from the second half of 2025 with a total capacity of 35 GWh per year. According to the company, this amount is enough for ensure the production of 300,000 electric vehicles per year. In addition to being located in Georgia, the South Korean automaker plans to build an electric vehicle plant in Savannah, also in Georgia. As we can see, the United States is investing in the electric vehicle segment, as well as several other countries in the world that will use commercial vehicles without internal combustion engines in the future.
