In most cases they were presented as “Czechs”, regardless of their true nationality, deprived of their income, exploited under “extreme coercion”, and in cases where they were allowed to return home, criminals they took some of their savings and extorted them using threats and violence.

The network was “well organized and could work remotely from different locations” as they were “well versed in the sex market” in Finland and other Scandinavian countries, and sexual exploitation to which they subjected the victims did not stop during the pandemic COVID-19rather “gained meaning” on the Internet.

“The perpetrators advised and encouraged the victims to use ‘partnership invitations’ to circumvent the strict entry rules imposed by some countries. In certain cases, the alleged boyfriend invited several women and received free sexual services in return, ”explains Europol.
