In an interview with The Verge, current Lightspark CEO David Markus made an interesting comment about the future of Bitcoin. For the businessman, a former vice president of messaging products at Facebook, cryptocurrency will play a key role in the economy.
Marcus was responsible for Facebook Messenger from 2014 to 2018 before the company changed its name to Meta. Current CEO of Lightspark, a company focused on the Bitcoin market. According to David Marcus, the cryptocurrency market as a whole is on the way to solving “real problems”. “ANDThere are tons of companies that have created things that solve real world problems, exchanges, wallets, and more. But there was so much speculation and teams just creating something to stake the token and make some quick money. And I feel like this era is coming to an end“.
For him, the market is now focused on creating something of real value that should solidify his presence in the market. Here, despite the current downturn, the future of bitcoin is promising.
Marcus points out that in order to have a working protocol for making money online, it’s important that it exists on something no one controls. So his new company is betting on bitcoin. He explains that his company operates as an internet payment protocol built on top of bitcoin in a decentralized way.
Marcus concludes that he is “pissed off” that money is still moving the way it did in the 1960s and 1970s: “This is an anomaly in the world. Money should move in the same way that everything moves on the Internet.” For him, money transactions and payments should be as simple as sending an email or text message. To do this, bet on the future of Bitcoin.
It is important to note that David Markus also led the Meta (at the time Facebook) team responsible for actions aimed at the crypto segment, but they did not bring results.. So despite being a digital asset market enthusiast, there’s no way to know if the Lightspark CEO’s bets will pay off.
