Google announces a partnership with Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft, CrowdStrike and Chronicle for XDR and SIEM.

Chromebooks in schools are a hit in many countries, but Google still has work to do in businesses. To reassure the business market, it announces new features as part of the connectors in Chrome Enterprise.

The search giant is launching its new XDR connector for the first time through a collaboration with CrowdStrike. It enables security and IT teams to quickly assess the risk profile of every device in their fleet in a single, universal dashboard. The CrowdStrike Falcon platform is one of the first to be supported. Those who have Chromebooks in the organization can express their interest in XDR using this form to test the first features in beta. It is not yet known when the connector will be publicly available to everyone.

Additionally, Google is also announcing a new connector to monitor activity through a SIEM tool of your choice. With the Security Insights and Reporting Connector, IT teams can measure things like login, logout, Chrome Remote Desktop, and local USB activity. Today ChromeOS supports Chronicle, Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR and CrowdStrike Falcon LogScale.

Finally, ChromeOS Identity and Access Management (IAM) now includes Conditional Access in conjunction with Netskope or Microsoft Defender in Azure AD. This allows IT teams to restrict access to services or even the entire operating system in untrusted environments. Netskope Intelligent SSE and Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps will be first here.

ChromeOS today is mainly managed by a simple one Mobile Device ManagerConsole. The new tools above can make Chromebooks more interesting for businesses.
