The foldable smartphone market continues to grow. With each new model that solves technical problems, more and more people are interested in this technology, and accordingly, the number of manufacturers who want to get their share of the pie increases. One such manufacturer is Honor, a major player in the industry. In a recent interview, Honor CEO Zhao Ming shared some of the company’s goals for the foldable smartphone market, saying “Honor will create the ultimate, most durable foldable smartphone.”

In 2019, Honor was heavily affected by the US embargo on Huawei and could not produce new phones for a long time. While operating as a subsidiary, the company was sidelined as resources were diverted to Huawei. However, after Honor was sold and the Chinese manufacturer re-entered the market, the situation changed. Honor quickly continued to work on innovative technologies after severing ties with Huawei and lifting the embargo. It seems that folding screen technology is high on the company’s research and development agenda.

In a recent interview, Honor CEO Zhao Ming revealed some of the company’s goals in the foldable phone market. “Honor will create the most durable folding phone that has no rival.” Honor aims to bring foldable phones into the mainstream by positioning the Honor Magic Vs as a competitor to high-end flagship devices like the iPhone 14 series, but its practicality is highly questionable. After all, while advanced smartphones may lure most of us with their features, they’re not exactly “practical”.

One of the biggest problems with sophisticated smartphones is their interface. Unfortunately, when you pick up one of these models, you don’t see a screen as big as a tablet, or a device as compact and portable as a smartphone. Unfortunately, this prevents them from going mainstream and replacing models like the iPhone 14 or Galaxy S23. With all this, it is hoped that the efforts of companies like Honor will change this in the future and make sophisticated devices much more popular.
