The virus that causes COVID-19 isn’t going anywhere, but the world is starting get out of the emergency phase of the pandemicThis was announced on Wednesday by the head of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a briefing that the UN agency will publish guidance for countries next week on how to move from emergency response to long-term treatment for COVID-19.
“We hope that someday this year we may declare the end of COVID-19 an emergency public health of international importance,” Tedros said.

He also explained that one of the many lessons of the Covid-19 pandemic is that countries that have learned from previous outbreaks and epidemics and made investments to prepare for future crises have done better.

Tedros assured that World Health Organization is helping more and more countries prepare for the next threat.
“We are all in this together and together we can better protect the world from future pandemic threats,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
