Counterpoint Research, a research firm in the technology sector, has published the results of a new study that points to Apple Watch Leadership in the US. Sales figures indicate that Apple has a 56% share of the smartwatch market in the US. Identification with the Apple brand is one of the factors that drives users to choose the company’s wearables.

The report provides interesting data based on the answers of the respondents. According to the study, 80% of iPhone smartwatch users own an Apple Watch.. 71% of Google Pixel owners own a Google Pixel Watch, while on the Samsung side, this number drops to 40%. That is, there is a strong connection with the brand, less on the part of Samsung in relation to the smartwatch segment. Thus, Galaxy smartphone users often opt for the Apple Watch. Of course, this only applies to the US.

Identification with the ecosystem facilitates the adoption of multiple products of the same brand.

Apple Watch is growing

According to Counterpoint Smartwatch Tracker, Apple sold roughly one Apple Watch for every three iPhones in the fourth quarter of 2022.. Samsung only sold one Galaxy Watch for every ten Galaxy smartphones in the US. Counterpoint Research analyst Matthew Orff says the study results point to a preference for “ecosystems” when a user buys multiple products from the same brand. “Consumers often buy their devices as part of a larger ecosystem of devices and operating systems. Apple and iOS dominate the US smartphone market, and iPhone users are more likely to migrate to other Apple products due to their superior interoperability.“.

Other data shows that, overall, smartwatch users are generally very satisfied with their devices, in addition to using fitness and health tools more frequently. Apple is developing an AI that will work as a “health coach” and could bring this tool to its devices, which could make its line of gadgets even more appealing to the public.

Finally, the report also points to great growth potential in this segment. About 59% of respondents (number not specified) use their first smartwatch, and only 14% purchased a device more than two years ago. This is indicative of the recent adoption of gadgets and opens the door to new growth opportunities.
