Sky Showtime It is the latest great video-on-demand platform to land in Spain. It premiered on February 28, and from then until a few days passed the grace period mentioned in the headline: two months during which it was possible to subscribe to the service with a 50% discount for life.

All those who take advantage of the introductory promotions will have, will continue to use the SkyShowtime offer for just €2.99 per month “forever” (if it goes up, it will do so in proportion to the current price, keeping the 50% discount), the lowest price between big platforms streaming that operate in Spain, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, Disney+ or Apple TV+ in this definition.

However, the event ended on April 25 and SkyShowtime is already showing its regular rates. And they’re still the cheapest on the scene, with one notable exception: 5.99 euros per month or 46.99 euros per year, depending on whether you want to buy a monthly or annual subscription, in which four months are discounted. In a quick comparison we find, from more to less economical, that (current prices without promotions):

  • SkyShowtime: €5.99/month, €46.99/year.
  • Apple TV+ €6.99 per month
  • HBO Max: €8.99/month, €69.99/year.

The notable exception is, of course, Amazon Prime Video, because even if we take into account the price increase of Amazon Prime, the subscription costs 4.99 euros per month or 49.90 euros per year including everything, although if someone insists, they can only hire the VOD service. for the same price and with a monthly or annual payment. Let’s say that Amazon plays in a different league, although César belongs to César, and that Prime Video has grown in all aspects.

On the other side, darker, is Netflix, whose plans start at 5.49 euros per month (with limited catalog and ads), 7.99 per month for one screen and in HD (720p) format, and are already set to go up. for 12.99 euros per month to enjoy something in line with what the competition offers in terms of terms and technical quality.

Add to that – or rather subtract – the cascading ban on shared accounts that cost it a million users in our country, or the infamous shift in its production quality, Netflix doesn’t seem like the most recommended option given the growing supply and economic failure that it’s facing we pass

Actually, for what netflix costs you pay for skyshowtime and one if not more; platforms you will find less original content, but usually of higher quality. If you shoot right and pay annually, you can even add Disney+ or HBO Max to the package, because to watch content in 4K on Netflix, you need to pay at least 17.99 euros per month… or 215 euros per year, which is said soon, because Netflix doesn’t have annual packages.

In any case, if you want to scratch your pocket enough, SkyShowtime is an interesting candidate: check out some of his most popular series and don’t forget to follow our section VOD newswhere every week we detail everything that comes out everywhere.
