The Brave1 cluster is a platform that combines public and private initiatives for the development of innovative solutions in the interests of defense and security forces, which will help Ukraine gain a technological advantage over the enemy and bring victory closer.

“Brave1 is an interdisciplinary project – a joint venture of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces Chief of Staff, the National Security and Defense Council, the Ministry of Digital, the Ministry of Strategic Industries and the Ministry of Economy. Its purpose is to encourage and support the development of companies working in the direction of defense technologies. “We started work on its creation before the full-scale invasion, but we have significantly increased our launch efforts in the last 6-7 months,” he said.
According to him, the cluster offers access to accelerators and incubators, as well as organizational and specialist development support for the industry. It is about systematic work on improving developments, raising awareness about business scaling, creating value for investors, mentoring.
In addition, developers will have access to an R&D resource center that will assist with required components, tests, equipment and information.
Fedorov explained that a special site has already been created where developers (both individuals and companies) can register and share information about their own ideas or work. After that, the experts evaluate the data and decide on the provision of a non-refundable grant and other resource assistance from the Innovation Development Fund.
Developers who already have projects can get expertise or answers to specific questions through the site.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, NSDC, the Ministry of Strategic Industry and the Ministry of Economy will also be able to access the platform. Key experts will be able to select key projects and assist in their implementation. There will also be offline conferences where military representatives will have the opportunity to present their ideas and developments.
Fedorov added that at the moment the initial budget for the implementation of the project is 50 million UAH.
“These funds will be enough for us to understand priority grants and how everything will work. I believe that after the launch of the cluster, other special funds will be created to invest in projects found through Brave1. The cluster sends a strong signal to the community: “Come here, we will help you” summed up the head of the Ministry of Digitization.
