While Apple’s ecosystem offers convenient and intuitive functionality for most, it doesn’t offer a seamless experience outside of the built-in ecosystem. However, it looks like the company’s hugely popular iMessage platform is finally making its way towards the Windows 11 platform.
Apple iMessages will finally work on Windows 11
Microsoft has announced that it will bring support for iMessages through the Phone Link app. This update will be available for Windows 11 users and will allow users to send messages from their iPhone without actually using their smartphone. Phone Link uses Bluetooth to sync help between your iOS devices. While this feature is already available for Android devices, it will only be available for iPhone on a limited basis.
Thus, iPhone owners can only send and receive messages to others, manage notifications, and make phone calls. This is less than most of the features offered by the Phone Link feature on Android devices. Some examples of this are Samsung Galaxy S series devices that allow app streaming to mirror Android apps on your PCs. According to official notes, the company will need by mid-May for iOS sync to be enabled for Windows 11 users.
For those who are interested, if you have an iPhone, you can download the Phone Link app from the Apple Store. Microsoft has been working on this compatibility feature for a while. iMessage, which will appear on the Windows platform, has apparently been on the market for about five years as of 2018. So this feature will be easily accepted by many.
