Windows 10 will no longer have new versions

Windows 10 is slowly but surely moving towards the end of its life cycle. This is of course nothing new. From the day its successor, Windows 11, was announced, we knew that the days of the most used version of Windows today were numbered. It was common sense, and Microsoft unsurprisingly didn’t delay its first announcement about it: its life cycle will last until October 4, 2025. It came out in early summer 2021, so it seemed far away, but the countdown is almost half over.

It is true that Microsoft has experience in delaying the end of life of its products. We’ve seen this with operating systems and apps, so Windows 10 may not be an exception in this regard. And there are reasons for this, as the technical requirements of Windows 11 have prevented many users from making the leap, for whom their devices are still more than enough. It is unlikely that Microsoft will accept the loss of them, so it is possible to assume that there will be extensions in this regard.

So you from Redmond will have to balance news and other actions to encourage users to migrate to Windows 11 with the flexibility it has already demonstrated in other cases, you know, one of lime and one of sand (or rather one of lime for several sands). For example, a few months ago we learned that Microsoft stopped selling Windows 10 licenses (although if you need one, you can buy it here at an unbeatable price). In the opposite direction, in recent months there have been rumors that the company is working on a new version of the operating system, Windows 10 23H2.

Windows 10 will no longer have new versions

However, it seems that won’t be the case. As we can read on one of the company blogs, Microsoft will no longer release new versions of Windows 10. As you may have guessed, Windows 22H2 is and will be the latest version of the operating system.

«As documented on the Windows 10 Enterprise and Education and Windows 10 Home and Pro lifecycle pages, Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025.. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10and all editions will continue to be supported by issuing monthly security updates until that date.«.

From now on, we shouldn’t expect any news in this operating system. Is it good or bad? Well, that really depends on what everyone expects.. Anyone who likes to regularly receive and test new features will undoubtedly see this as bad news. However, those who have decided to stick with Windows 10 for its maturity and stability will undoubtedly be happy to know, as this lack of new features translates into even fewer system problems.
