“Our brother Alper Gezeravcı, who will go to the International Space Station, is a famous Turkish pilot who has achieved remarkable success in the command of our Air Force. Tuva Dzihangir Atasever, who was selected as a backup, is a systems engineer working in space launch systems at ROKETSAN. “I have no doubt that they will perform their duties in the best way possible,” he said.
According to him, the Turkish cosmonaut will stay on the space station for 14 days. In this mission, the Turkish cosmonaut will perform 13 different experiments prepared by the country’s famous universities and research institutions.
The election took place within the framework of the National Space Program, in which a Turkish citizen will be sent into space on the 100th anniversary of the Republic.
As reported by Ukrinform, 31,000 applications were made in two days for the International Comedy Station cosmonaut quota in Turkey in May last year.
