Rumors that Twitter might edit posts have been circulating for a long time. It looks like this feature will be available soon. This was explained by IT specialist and program researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who found the edit menu currently inaccessible to users.
As expected, the menu that lets you invoke the tweet editing tool looks pretty straightforward. After clicking the “Edit Tweet” button, a context menu will appear where you can make changes directly to the text of the post.
It looks like the developers are testing the ability to edit tweets within 30 minutes of posting. And the user can not only change the text, which is useful in case of error, but also add or remove multimedia content. After saving the changes, a small “Edited” shortcut will appear next to the tweet, which will take you to the edit history page. All previous versions of the tweet are expected to appear on this page.
Earlier, Wong said that Twitter apparently plans to replace tweets, ie. Each edited version of the publication will have its own identifier. It’s unclear whether Twitter will automatically show users the latest version of the post and whether users can view previous versions of tweets. Source
