Both Google and Microsoft announced the integration of AI development into their productivity solutions, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, a few weeks ago. However, both companies took their deployment very quietly. We may see some changes in this regard in the coming months, but under the current situation it seems highly unlikely that such services will start reaching all users before 2024 or at the earliest at the end of 2023.

I hope I’m wrong and that we finally don’t have to wait that long, because of all the AI integrations that have been proposed in recent months, this is without a doubt It seems to me that it is one of the most interesting, both in terms of scope and potential. Because? Because thanks to this feature, a huge number of users will be able to really start using the huge potential of this type of applications and services. I can’t even imagine, to give just one example (probably the most obvious one, I know), the increase this new feature can cause when using spreadsheets, which many users today fear because of how complex they can become. their patterns.

While Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 move at their own pace to implement these features, developers, entrepreneurs and companies They saw a very interesting opportunity, because the necessary technology already exists and they have the ability to overtake the “legacy” and provide these features right now. In this regard, a few months ago we told you how to integrate ChatGPT with Google Sheets to quickly create lists and glossaries, and this is just one of the many options currently available.

In this sense, I usually try to keep up with the news and today I came across one that is at least a priori very interesting and with a larger scope. I am talking about GPT Workspace, a service that integrates ChatGPT with Google Workspace applications In this way, we can solve some tasks in seconds that would otherwise take us a lot of time, from writing texts or choosing phrases for a presentation to, of course, generating lists, which is one of the most common and dreaded activities for many. .

However, it is a subscription service offers a basic level that is free, although it is limited to 10 data requests per ChatGPT, so unless our needs are very, very low, it will only serve us to test its operation. To be able to use it without restrictions, it will be necessary to go through the checkout and in this case the service has a price of 19 euros per month if we decide on monthly payments which are reduced to 9 per month if we decide on an annual payment, that is one of 108 euros for twelve months of unlimited use.

Its installation is very simple. On their website, you will only need to click on the “Start” button shown on the top page, then follow the instructions to install and activate the extension, and when you start working on a document with Google Workspace, activate the service for the same. Regarding privacy, the company states the following:

«Designed to respect your privacy. GPT Workspace does not have access to your data or files in Google Drive.

By design, your data always remains on Google servers. Here is all the information we need to get GPT Workspace working:

Your email address to identify your account
If you are a paying customer, please provide your name to identify the payment
Metadata (number of indications, date of submission, title of document)
GPT Workspace complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (RGPD).»

Definitely a good starting point that led me to give it a try and recommend… though as always in these cases with the appropriate caveats. So if you are interested, I advise you to start with a free trial and use it with general data, not personal, private or secret data. However, the company already offers other services that integrate with Google, and its track record so far appears to be spotless, which is certainly reassuring.
