Russian authorities have been subjected to a series of cyber attacks by the Chinese group ART. This was announced by the Google Threat Analysis Group (TAG) in its report on cyber activity in Eastern Europe.
Google TAG is a team of cybersecurity experts that protect Google users from attacks by government hackers. In previous reports, the group mentioned the attacks of the same hacker group that affected not only Russia but also other countries in the region such as Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia.
“Hackers run long campaigns against Russian government agencies, including the State Department,” said Billy Leonard, Google TAG security engineer. “Over the past week, TAG identified new threats to a Russian logistics company, as well as several Russian defense contractors and manufacturers.”
Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) team has found evidence that several hacker groups are using the military conflict in Ukraine to steal credentials via malicious emails and links.
Secureworks recently spotted another Chinese government group called Mustang Panda. Hackers attacked the Russian authorities and military with the PlugX backdoor.
