It’s May, the month that usually heralds the arrival of the ever-approaching summer, even if it’s true this year, April took the lead in this regard, with temperatures breaking all-time records. But it is better not to go into that topic because there is too much material to cut and it is not the right moment. Instead, we’re going to talk about another heat that’s making us excited for the launch of the games we’ve been waiting for.

In this context, May is quite a promising month. And I say promising instead of positively because we don’t win to get upset about games that arrive in a sorry state. While we were still finishing up the disaster of The Last of Us Part 1, we saw again that having expectations is a bad idea and that developers and distributors think we’re idiots. I am referring, of course, to the disaster caused by Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a highly anticipated game that many of us were very much looking forward to, but which sees a great plot completely unworthy due to a technical level that is an insult to everyone who spent money on it your money.

We are not born cynical or unbelieving, it is life that gives us the scars necessary to start acting this way, right? But hey, we can’t even make an amendment as a whole and deny games that have been on the market for less than a month and that have already proven themselves richly during that time. So, a new month, and we’re back to give the most exciting releases of the month a shot. Of course, we keep our fingers crossed in the hope that no new disappointment awaits us, Will this month be lucky?

Age of Wonders 4

Age of Wonders is a saga that usually does not fail. Triumph and Paradox are able to enrich a formula that knew how to win over players from its first delivery with its fun combination of 4X strategy and turn-based tactical combat. All decisions will count towards the fate of the empire you are trying to create, can you do it… again?

As with the other games in this guide, I thought I’d cover it. But instead, I am forced to warn you that after the first hours on Steam, it is already accumulating a large number of negative reviews… once again, indeed, due to the lack of optimization. And it’s a shame, because the premise of an open world shooter with vampires was interesting. We’ll have to wait for them to fix it eventually.

Ravenlock

Undeniably inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Ravenlok begins as she steps beyond a magical looking glass that takes her to a fantasy world that, at its worst, is bleak, tinged with the ominous darkness of a tyrannical queen. I haven’t seen any footage of the Mad Hatter, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he showed up mid-game.

Mechabellum

We could take a moment to discuss the plot of this game, in which you are the commander of a “mech” force on a planet far away (it’s actually called Far-Away, imagine how far away) recently colonized, but you and I know that if you were interested in this title, it was not it’s because of the plot, right? I understand you, the same thing happens to me, I stay with the steel giants against each other like there is no tomorrow.

TT Isle Of Man: Ride on the Edge 3

Lovers of speed on two wheels, this is probably the title you will be most interested in this year 2023. As you might have guessed from the name, it takes us to the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy with more than 60 kilometers (the game map contains more than 200), its 264 turns and a level of demand that will make even the most experienced drivers pale.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Return (if you ever went there) to the lands of Hyrule, as both the princess and the kingdom need your help to find out what has plunged them into darkness and chaos. The legacy is never easy, you know, but the challenge is sure to be rewarded with every minute of exploring one of the most mythical kingdoms in video game history.

If you liked the legendary Lemmings at the time, I have no doubt that this original design will immediately interest you. Amnesia: The Bunker

The creators of the Amnesia saga have already proven their talent enough when it comes to giving us a hard time and having a great time doing it. In this new work, we find ourselves abandoned in a bunker from the First World War, in an environment that we will have to explore even at the cost of many shocks and with the assumption that we must avoid staying in the dark at all costs.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
