One of the pioneers of artificial intelligence, Dr. Geoffrey Hinton has left Google to “talk freely” about potential risks with the technology.

Hinton, whose designs are at the heart of today’s productive AI systems, fears that the tech industry’s desire to create products based on AI could have dangerous consequences.

This “lust for the new” can cause both the spread of misinformation, the loss of jobs, and even threaten humanity.

The expert emphasized that the active cooperation of leading scientists in the field of artificial intelligence can prevent this from getting out of control. He also expressed concern that technology could transform the labor market by first completing and then replacing people in routine jobs.

Despite criticism about his departure from Google, Hinton made his motivation clear by tweeting: “I left Google to talk freely about the dangers of artificial intelligence without worrying about how it would affect Google. Google has acted very responsibly.”
