Samsung Electronics Inc. banned employees from using artificial intelligence (AI) productive tools.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Bloomberg.
“The interest in productive AI platforms like ChatGTP is growing both internally and externally. While this focus is on the utility and effectiveness of these platforms, there is also a growing concern about the security risks posed by productive AI,” he said.
According to the document, the company is concerned that data transmitted to artificial intelligence platforms, including Google Bard and Bing, is stored on external servers. This makes them difficult to recover and delete, and they may eventually be exposed by other users.
The note also claims that in April Samsung engineers accidentally “leaked” the internal source code by uploading it to ChatGTP. It is not known exactly what this information is about.
Samsung’s new rules prohibit the use of manufacturer artificial intelligence systems on company-owned computers, tablets and phones, as well as in-house networks. At the same time, the new policy does not affect the company’s devices sold to consumers.
Samsung has asked its employees who use AI tools on their personal devices not to provide any company-related information or personal data that could expose its intellectual property. Employees who violate the new policy can be fired.
At the same time, the company is creating its own internal AI tools for software development, as well as document translation and abstraction. Samsung is also working on ways to prevent the company’s confidential information from being uploaded to external services.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Italian privacy protection service has blocked the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot, accusing it of illegally collecting the personal data of Italian users.
