The new Nokia 3310 is here. Or that’s the analogy Nokia makes to present the rugged XR21. Anyone who now thinks back with nostalgia to the extremely robust mobile phone of the past already has an idea of where license holder HMD Global wants to go with this smartphone: reliability.
On land, on water and in the air
Starting today, those looking for a phone to take with you on a mountain hike, in your kayak, or perhaps to a busy construction site can consider the new Nokia XR21. Nokia’s figures and references sound promising.
The black chassis is cast from 100% recycled aluminum and has additional protection made from sustainable materials. This housing should therefore be dustproof. In addition, you can work both at minus twenty and at +55 degrees Celsius.
You do your thing on a 6.49-inch Victus screen made of Corning Gorilla Glass, specially designed to absorb shock. Wet hands, rain or gloves shouldn’t be a problem for swiping, typing or clicking smoothly. The Nokia XR21 is shockproof and should easily fall to the ground from 1.8 meters with the screen facing down.
A bowl of rice isn’t needed in a hurry, this phone can stand in the pouring rain for up to three days. And that may be a heavy shower, it can withstand a water jet of 100 bar. The device should also be able to withstand a water temperature of 80 degrees Celsius and be immersed in water at a depth of 1.5 meters for up to one hour.

The Nokia XR21 features 96dB stereo speakers with OZO playback and Audio Boost mode. AI Portrait, Night Mode 2.0 and Flash Shot are available for image editing. The battery life is given as two days.
HMD Global promises you a monthly security update for four years and operating system upgrades for three years. There is a three-year guarantee on the device and, to be on the safe side, you also get a year’s guarantee on display replacement. All this is available from today for 599 euros including VAT.
