According to Nendo, the new design of the can allows you to achieve the so-called “golden ratio” between beer and foam.. The appearance of the jar is ordinary, but two opening handles can change everything.

The company claims that the innovative design results in a beer with perfect foam. To reach this conclusion, Nendo explains that there are two main principles behind the formation of bubbles in canned beer: the sudden drop in pressure inside the can when it is opened, and the friction that occurs between the can and the liquid when it is poured.
Through their research, the company has discovered that if the handle does not open the can completely, the pressure is concentrated in a narrow opening. At the same time, during bottling, the area of contact of the beer with the cap increases, which contributes to the formation of bubbles.

How to fill a glass
According to Nendo, the properties of the lid and the spacing between the handles affect how hard the can opens. To get the perfect beer, experts recommend first opening the handle labeled “1” and pouring it into a glass until it’s half full.
Then wait a few seconds for the bubbles to settle. After that, you need to pull the second handle so that the jar opens completely. The remaining liquid can then be poured from the jar into a glass.

Nendo states that foam is considered necessary to improve the taste of beer, at least in Japan. This is because a sufficiently thick layer of foam acts as a cap, preventing the beer from coming into contact with air and preventing the release of aroma, flavor and carbonation.
While most homebrewers are canned, creating the perfect foam when pouring from can to glass is tricky. With the new Nendo can, you can easily achieve a 7:3 liquid to foam ratio, called the golden ratio, for canned beer.
