The Ministry of Digital Transformation has provided high-speed Internet to more than 1 million Ukrainians in 3,268 villages since the launch of the “Internet Subsidy” project.
This was reported by Ukrinform, with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Digitization in Telegram.
“More than 6,000 Ukrainians in the villages have high-speed internet for the first time this year. This has been made possible thanks to Internet subsidy funds accumulated through transparent processes. Since 2021, more than 1 million Ukrainians in 3,268 villages have accessed high-speed internet for the first time as part of the project. And 7,500 schools, hospitals, and other social institutions now have Wi-Fi.”
The Ministry warned against the unreasonable use of 216.7 million UAH from the state budget at the start of the project, noting that the team of the Ministry of Digital Affairs exceeded the plan. And thanks to the optimization of the processes, 316 million UAH was also invested instead of the 500 million UAH allocated.
“This is a strong step towards bridging the digital divide and ensuring equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of where they live: a million-dollar city or a small village,” the press service said.
As reported, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received 42,000 Starlink satellite Internet terminals that provide critical infrastructure with communications.
