Google announced Wednesday that it has introduced a blue checkmark in its Gmail email to help distinguish messages from legitimate users from messages sent by scammers. As reported
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported in the Google press service.
In 2021, the company rolled out Brand Indicators (BIMI) for Message Identity in Gmail. This feature requires email senders to use strong authentication and verify brand logos to be displayed as avatars in emails.
Google Mail users will now see a checkmark icon for senders accepting BIMI.
“This will help users differentiate between messages from legitimate senders and messages that impersonate others,” Google explains.
The company said strong email authentication helps users and security systems detect and stop spam, allowing senders to increase brand trust.
The new feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers and customers of legacy versions of G Suite Basic and Business, as well as personal Google account holders.
As reported by Ukrinform, some Twitter accounts with more than one million followers were blue ticked without paying for the subscription.
