According to Google, the new authentication system has been in testing since October 2022 and is available for users of Android 9 or higher and iOS 16 or higher. Users can register their password keys by visiting a specific page or by visiting their account settings. You can register multiple devices, but the company does not recommend adding devices that other people use.

End of passwords?

On Apple devices, passkeys are synced via iCloud, making it easy to switch between devices and allow access to accounts on other devices. However, since this new authentication method is still in its infancy and not every device has a biometric system, traditional passwords and two-factor authentication codes will continue to work as usual.
