After months of leaks and rumors, search engine giant Google has finally introduced its newest and most innovative smartphone to date, the Google Pixel Fold. The company has officially confirmed the existence of a foldable smartphone for the first time.
The company has officially unveiled the Google Pixel Fold smartphone with a teaser posted on YouTube and Twitter. It offered a glimpse of the device before more details were revealed at Google I/O next week.
A video released by the tech giant shows that the brand’s first foldable smartphone features a vertical hinge that opens the device to a tablet-like display, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold series.
When the phone is closed, users can use the smaller external touchpad on one side. Like the latest Pixel smartphone lineup, there’s a camera panel on the back, but it’s not as noticeable as other models.
According to reports, the Google Pixel Fold has a 5.8-inch display that opens up to a 7.6-inch tablet-like panel. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Google Tensor G2 processor and reportedly has the strongest hinge in a foldable device.
More details about the smartphone will be revealed at the Google I/O developer conference on May 10. As for its price, the device is expected to cost around $1,700 and is expected to go on sale in the coming weeks.
