“We can get a very interesting report with some recommendations, with various criticisms and suggestions, but, of course, we cannot agree that it is designed to carry out interventionist practice in the constitutional powers of the autonomous constitutional organisms of Peru,” Otarola said.

Thus, the Prime Minister of Peru assured that the government will analyze 36 final recommendations included in IACHR report and assess the “relevance of the application” in accordance with the country’s domestic law, according to Andean radio station RPP.

“These are recommendations that will sent to all sectors and, of course, the justice sector will take appropriate measures to be able to send reports,” stressed the Andean Prime Minister, who nonetheless believes “inadequateArmy analysis.

Thus, the “premier” rejected the analysis carried out on the Armed Forces of the country and reiterated the Peruvian government’s support for law enforcement. Otarola stressed that it was the army and the police that “guarded and took care of the internal order”, despite “some mistakes”.

These criticisms of the Prime Minister are complemented by those made earlier by Justice Minister Daniel Morate, who assured that the government of Dina Boluarte never allowed the security forces to use firearms to reflect anti-government speeches, as can be seen from the IACHR report.

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights concluded in its latest report on the political crisis in Peru that “serious violations” of human rights during the protests, and that the state’s response was “characterized disproportionate, indiscriminate and lethal use of force.”

Prior to Otarola and Morate, President Boluarte herself had already spoken out against accusations leveled by the IACHR in defense that the Andean authoritiesrespect for fundamental freedoms, including peaceful protest; and denied allegations of alleged extrajudicial executions.

The report of the Commission analyzes episodes of violence and police repression which were carried out during the protests that took place from December 7 – the same day that former President Pedro Castillo was imprisoned and imprisoned – and January 23, especially in the cities of Ayacucho and Puno.

The reaction of the authorities to these mobilizations left almost 60 people died, including a policeman, as well as about a thousand wounded and several dozen other detainees. The Commission recommended that a negotiated solution be found to resolve this new crisis and urged the Government to put in place the necessary mechanisms to investigate the facts and compensate the victims.
