As mentioned, this type of lunar eclipse is known as a penumbra – observers will be able to see that the moon is dim but not completely lost.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align, and the Earth casts a shadow on the Moon’s surface.
Thus, observers will see that the Earth’s satellite is not completely eclipsed, but a dark gray or brown shade on its surface. At the peak of the eclipse, this shadow will cover 94.6% of the Moon’s surface.
The peak of the eclipse will occur at 20:24 Kiev time, about two hours after the start. The eclipse will last until 22:32.
In real time, this phenomenon can only be observed from Australia, Antarctica, East Africa, Oceania and Asia.
