Tiny11 is a stripped down version of Windows 11 that is designed to consume less resources than the standard version of the mentioned operating system, and this allows it to work even on computers with old hardware and somewhat limited functions.
To reduce its weight and resource consumption, the creators of Tiny11 removed features, applications and other non-essential items for the operation of said operating system, and this led to a kind of “mini” Windows 11, which aroused a lot of interest and which turned out to be so versatile that it is even able to allow such strange things as its installation on the memory of the graphics card.
NTDEV shares a video showing how Tiny11 works installed in the 4 GB of graphics memory that the GeForce RTX 3050 brings from your laptop. This was possible thanks to the use of GpuRamDrive, a tool that we can also see in the video. It goes without saying that when performing this installation, the amount of free memory is very small, since we are talking about a graphics card that only has 4 GB of VRAM.
However, the performance offered by this type of memory is very high and allows the operating system to move with it complete fluency. This experiment is more of a curiosity than anything else, that’s for sure, but it’s very interesting to see what we can achieve with a little optimization and the versatility and flexibility that Windows 11 can have when we separate the “wheat from the chaff” and leave only the features and features that really matter.
As an anecdote, I remind you that this was also the case a few years agoand managed to install Crysis 3 on a GeForce RTX 3090 GPU, a graphics card that, as many of our readers will know, has 24GB of VRAM. In this case, the game was taking up around 15 GB of graphics memory, a number that makes it impossible to achieve this performance on a smaller graphics card. The free amount was still more than enough for the game to work at its maximum and in 4K resolution absolutely smoothly.
