It’s no secret that Microsoft likes to use its products to display ads to users, and according to new information, the Redmond company plans to add more advertising to Windows 11an operating system that has yet to gain favor with the general public and that will surely have a very hard time surpassing Windows 10 in the medium and even long term.
In this particular case, the new ad will appear in the “Settings> Home” section, as we can see in the attached image. Look closely at the part we marked in red, that would be it an ad inviting users to try Microsoft 365 for freea suite that includes well-known and important applications such as Word, Excel, OneDrive and Outlook, among others.
Microsoft also has another way to integrate advertising. That would seem placed at the bottom of the same sectionas you can see in the second attached image, also marked in red and this time focused on the creation of a Microsoft account, something that, as we already told you then, has become a requirement for the possibility of installing Windows 11 Pro .
As I told you at the beginning of this news, this is not the first time that Microsoft has introduced ads into its products, and it is not the first time that ads have come to Windows. From last November 2022 ads started appearing in Windows 11 Start menu, and the company also displayed full-screen ads recommending users to upgrade to Windows 11, a rather invasive method that we also have to approach carefully if we don’t want to end up upgrading to said operating system by mistake, as the options to decline said updates are a bit “hidden”.
We don’t know when these new notifications will begin to be implemented in the Windows 11 settings section, but they were spotted in an Insider channel build, so it’s finally clear that it will only be a matter of time before they arrive in the general channel. Do you think it’s okay for Microsoft to use its products to promote and promote other products and services? Read in the comments.
