You would expect Windows 11 users to already be more than familiar with what Microsoft has to offer. But the tech company is not taking any risks and is planning to advertise its own products more on its own platform.

Chances are, as a Windows 11 user, you’ll soon start seeing more ads as you tinker with the settings. Microsoft wants to convince more people to use its other products. The question is whether this approach has the desired effect.

Twitter account Albacore, which deals with software, reported the news after researching the latest Insider editions of Windows 11. It looks like the Windows 11 setup page will start showing ads for Microsoft 365 soon. Different versions show the banner in different places on the home screen. Another update shows the message that certain products will soon no longer receive support. This can then be read on the Accounts screen.

Not the first time

Microsoft’s approach is certainly nothing new. For example, ads have been appearing in the Windows 11 Start menu since November last year, and reports of ads in Windows Explorer surfaced a few months ago. The AI version of the Bing search engine will also display the necessary advertising in the foreseeable future.

It is clear that Microsoft wants to sell as many of its products as possible through its own channels, but whether this approach will convince many potential users is a question to which even AI-Bing probably does not have a positive answer.
