Google is working to fix one of the biggest problems with Android 14

Although Android is developed by Google, it is usually customized by smartphone manufacturers. This results in each brand offering its own unique experience, but this sometimes causes problems. For example, different devices handle background services differently, which can be frustrating for some users. Fortunately, Google is working on a partnership with Samsung to make background services work more consistently.

Google and Samsung team up to fix incompatible Android background services issue

Google and Samsung have joined forces to solve one of Android’s most frustrating problems: inconsistent background services. The tech giants are working together to ensure a more uniform implementation of Android 14’s background APIs, starting with Samsung’s One UI 6.0 update for Galaxy devices.

Actually, the background services issue is not new. Smartphone manufacturers have long restricted certain system functions to extend the battery life of their devices. This often leads to unwanted app behavior and poor user experience. Android 14 introduces changes to address these issues, including simplified background processes and new Google Play policies.

Samsung is the first company to partner with Google on this and their collaboration will be evident in the upcoming One UI 6.0 update. The overall user experience will improve significantly as developers update their apps to target Android 14. Actually, Google has guidelines for background processes. However, so far these recommendations have not been very effective.

The Google I/O event will take place on May 10. The company is expected to introduce Android 14 at the event and shed more light on its features.
