The new HTC U23 Pro 5G smartphone has leaked onto the internet and it’s worth it the latest addition to the ‘Viverse’attempt to create a society “an open, universal and transparent Metaverse”. All indications are that it will be released as a companion device to the Vive Flow VR headset.
HTC was one of the big mobile phone manufacturers. Like Nokia, Motorola or Blackberry, it could not withstand changes by Apple and later by other Asian manufacturers and eventually sold most of the equipment of its best devices to Google to strengthen the Pixel line. The company has released some terminals here and there, but with no market significance until it went ahead with the launch a few months ago “Mobile for the Metaverse”. It may be the one we present to you today.
The HTC U23 Pro 5G would be the first of the ‘U’ series from 2020. Its general specs won’t blow your mind, its polycarbonate chassis and SoC Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 quite overpowered, but that combined with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage should at least offer decent performance.
Better on the screen, AMOLED unknown size and cameras four sensors led by one of 108 MP. The battery has a capacity of 4,600 mAh, fast charging with a cable via the USB Type-C port and wireless.
With these wickers, he would be right at the gates of the high-end, and in the regular market, we do not believe that he would be able to revive the market. But the idea is different, to bring the Metaverse, which still needs to be developed, closer to the general public. HTC calls it “Viverse”, although it’s not really different from what other companies like Facebook or Microsoft promise: shared virtual world which uses virtual reality, augmented reality, avatars and the Internet.
It shouldn’t be mandatory to use a certain mobile, but HTC has become one of the major players in virtual reality devices with the Vive platform, and its metaverse mobile should stand out for this very reason: running VR/AR applications. We’ll see.
