It seems that Microsoft’s efforts to promote its Edge browser were not in vain. The desktop browser market has seen some changes in recent months, according to a new report from research firm StatCounter.
According to the source, in April, Google Chrome still held the leading position by a huge margin from all competitors with a market share of 66.64%. The second most popular was Microsoft Edge, whose share was 10.07% against just under 8% a year earlier. Apple’s Safari is now in third place with 9.62%.
Mozilla Firefox (7.87%) is in fourth place in the popularity rating of desktop browsers, and closes the top five, far behind competitors, Opera (2.44%). The share of other solutions taken together is slightly less than a percent.
According to analysts, it is unlikely that Chrome will lose the lead in the near future. However, Edge has every chance to increase its market share, given the current dynamics.
