According to the accusation set out in the legislative decree, there is a “withdrawal or diversion of funds” generated by the state-owned company. Article 2 of the parliamentary resolution stipulates that the President of the National Assembly, Virgilio Sachisela, “will immediately proceed with the consideration of the impeachment process” against Lasso, for which he must call a meeting within five days of the plenary session to question the president.

It also provides that President Lasso will be notified “with this resolution” and that “the entire dossier of this process” will be given to him.

The legislative majority’s resolution came after a controversial impeachment process that began with the admission of the alleged offense of embezzlement, qualified by the Constitutional Court, which nevertheless ruled out other causes in the process as concussion. , bribery and illicit enrichment.
