Dutch company Philips specializing in medical technologies will continue to supply hospital equipment to Russia, despite the war in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Reuters with reference to the statement of the company’s chief executive Roy Jacobs.

“The right to health care is universal and we are part of the healthcare provider system. We do this in Ukraine as well as in Russia,” Jacobs said at the company’s annual shareholders meeting in Amsterdam.

According to the company’s CEO, Philips’ activities in Russia focuses on servicing and supplying hospital equipment such as large medical scanners. At the same time, the company stopped selling personal care products other than products for pregnant women in the country.

He added that Russian activity is not profitable.

Last year, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba included Philips in a group of 50 major international companies, which he accused of making “bloody profits” by staying active in Russia.

“The international companies that continue to operate in Russia directly finance Russian war crimes,” Kuleba said in November 2022.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Ireland Larisa Herasko has called for a halt to purchases of Jameson whiskey as a sign of protest against the company’s decision to resume trading in Russia.
