SAS continues to accelerate the development of AI-powered technologies tailored for industrial companies with additional investments.
In case you’ve been in a cave for the past few months, the AI hype train is rumbling like never before. Companies that do not deal with artificial intelligence in one way or another run the risk of falling by the wayside. SAS therefore wants to help industrial companies to discover the advantages of AI. During SAS Innovate, the company pledges to commit $1 billion over the next three years to developing industrial AI solutions.
“With this investment, SAS will continue to support organizations that use AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to manage risk, better serve customers, and more. We remain steadfast in our ongoing commitment to innovation,” said CEO Jim Goodnight. The investment plan includes the financing of direct research and development, but also the outlined marketing.
All industrial AI solutions run on SAS Viya. In addition to the industrial sector, SAS is also committed to developing advanced analytics solutions for finance, insurance, retail and healthcare.
SAS also takes the opportunity to draw attention to the ethical image. The breakthrough of ChatGPT and Bing Chat makes AI technology more accessible to the general public than ever. This sparks discussions among experts as to whether things are moving too quickly.
“With the rapid advancement of AI, we must continue to diligently put people at the center of everything we do,” said Reggie Townsend. “But it’s not just about protecting the vulnerable, it’s looking at ways to use AI to improve people’s lives.” SAS wants to lead by example by giving its Data for Good team a more prominent place within the organization and organizes training courses on the topic of “responsible innovation”.
