The Google Pixel Fold has been talked about for years, a project that Google has been working on for yearsabout which we received endless leaks during this period and which, although more and more signs pointed to it being presented today at Google I/O 2023, the company did not officially confirm it until a few years ago. , certainly in a capitulation movement in the face of the vast amount of information about her that had previously been leaked, information that is largely confirmed today.
But let’s start with the bad (albeit predictable) news first, namely At least at the moment, it seems that there are no plans for the Google Pixel Fold to arrive in Spain. And I say it was predictable because our local market is still quite green with foldable smartphones, which could make Google’s debut in this category quite difficult. So, while the Pixel 7a arrived immediately in our country, (I assume not many) who were waiting for the foldable to arrive will have to wait.
this of course does not degrade the smartphone, which Google is working with to grow the folding ecosystem, and is rowing right in the direction of the growth and maturation of said market, so that one not-so-distant day it will be possible to get a future iteration of this company’s first Fold of. So let’s see what’s cooking in the technical kitchens of the seeker.

If you’re familiar with folding models, the images of this Pixel Fold will certainly remind you of the Oppo Find N2, as my colleague Juan pointed out a few weeks ago when it was leaked on video. During the presentation, especially in the live demonstration of its operation, we were able to confirm these impressions.
The star of this smartphone is undoubtedly its flip-up display, so it will be discussed first. We are talking about 7.6-inch foldable OLED panel with FullHD+ resolution (2,208 x 1,840 pixels in a 6:5 aspect ratio with a density of 380 dots per inch), a refresh rate of up to 120 hertz, HDR compatible (with a brightness of up to 1,000 nits), a contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1, 24-bit color and always on mode.
The exterior is based on a 5.8-inch OLED panel with FullHD+ resolution (2,092 x 1,080 pixels in an aspect ratio of 17.4:9 with a density of 408 dots per inch), refresh rate up to 120 Hz, HDR compatible (with a brightness of up to 1,200 nits), 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 24-bit color , always-on mode and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Once inside, no surprisesthis Pixel Fold is powered by Tensor G2 SoC, a chip also found in the Pixel 7 family and the Pixel tablet. We are talking about an integrated with an eight-core CPU (two Cortex-X1 cores at 2.85 GHz, two Cortex-A78 at 2.35 GHz and four Cortex-A55 at 1.8 GHz), Mali G710 MP7 GPU with 20 cores, Titan M2 security coprocessor and the TPU (Tensor Process Unit), a processing unit designed exclusively for AI-based functions. It is complemented by 12 gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 or 512 gigabytes of EFS 3.1 storage.
In the connectivity section, we are talking about the smartphone Dual SIM (nanoSIM + eSIM) 5G mmWave + Sub 6GHz, together with WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, geolocation, NFC and Google Cast in the wireless part. The USB-C port, on the other hand, enables data transfer and is also used to charge its battery 4,821 milliamps and offers 30-watt fast charging. However, it offers a wireless charging function for those who want to give up cables in this regard as well.
When we talk about their cameras again, we find a peculiarity typical of the folding ones, and that is the one it has three camerasthe main one, located in one of the two covers, the front one on the cover with the screen for the use of the folded smartphone and another front camera next to the folding screen for use. The main one is made up of three elementsa wide-angle (82 °) 48 megapixel with ƒ / 1.7, which serves as the main sensor, complemented by an ultra-wide angle (121.1 °) 10.8 megapixel ƒ / 2.2 and a telephoto lens (21.9 °) with 5x optical zoom, 10.8 megapixel resolution and ƒ/3.05 number.
On the other hand, both the front cameras are quite similar. In both cases we find a lens wide angle (84°) and number ƒ/2. The only difference is in its resolution, which on the outside it’s 9.5 megapixelswhile that the internal one is 8 megapixels. Obviously, all of the Pixel’s photography features round out the camera suite.
As I indicated at the beginning, at least for the time being, there are no plans for his arrival in Spain. Yes, it is already bookable in the United States and its price is $1,799 for the 256GB model storage that increases up to $1,919 for the 512 gig model. Google Pixel Fold page on Google’s online store It is only accessible from the United States (or with a VPN), if you want to check it and meet one of the two conditions, you can find it at this link.
