LG has announced the launch of a new monitor that PC users (as well as subscribers) will love giant-sized ultra-widescreens. Like the others before it, it is focused on games, but it has the ability to use it at a very good level in other types of multimedia entertainment, as well as work for its ability to accumulate multiple windows on the screen and the ability to connect to various input sources.
The monitor in question is the LG UltraGear 49GR85DC-B. It uses a panel with VA technology and an impressive diagonal 49 inches which will require a large table because its width is more than one meter. Its base has been reinforced compared to other smaller UltraGears, and it has mild light effects on its back.
With such a diagonal, display capacity is lost at the ends, and for this reason, almost all of these types of monitors opt for curved panels. The LG monitor bets on an extreme sa curve radius 1000R. Equally extreme is its 32:9 aspect ratio and its native resolution 5120 x 1440 pixels.
In response to its focus on gaming, the LG UltraGear 49GR85DC-B is compatible with Image Sync technology. AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and its refresh rate will increase to 240 Hz, the highest achieved in the industry with this distinction. It supports the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 standard and offers a response time of 1 ms (GtG).
The rest of the technical characteristics are rather “average”, with viewing angles of 178°/178°, a maximum brightness of 450 cd/m², a static contrast ratio of 2500:1 and 95% coverage of the color palette. DCI- Color P3. The base is adjustable in height and tilt and has two HDMI 2.1 inputs and one DisplayPort 1.4. It also includes a headphone amplifier for audio input via a DP/HDMI connection with support for the DTS Headphones X surround sound format.
On the software side, in addition to gamer-focused features like a hardware viewfinder, frame rate counter, black stabilizer, and specific display presets for major genres, LG offers on-screen controls that support picture features. -in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP), which allows you to configure the monitor to display content from two separate input sources.
The LG UltraGear 49GR85DC-B is already available on the manufacturer’s web portal and should reach all markets very soon. Its selling price is $1,299. A considerable investment, no doubt about it, but (as a happy owner of one) we can assure you that they are a joy, for every use. As for games, there are more and more supported titles.
