Google partially satisfied the curiosity of Android users as to what to expect with Android 14. Google Surprised By Revealing A Long-Awaited Addition Will Come In The Next Version Of Android: Support for HDR images. This innovation promises to take photo quality to the next level, offering more vibrant images with improved brightness, sharper contrast and a wider range of colors.
The adopted format, dubbed Ultra HDR, will be fully compatible with the popular JPEG format, ensuring users can enjoy these visual enhancements on their devices. Using this new feature, images captured in this format will be stored in native 10-bit HDR quality and can be viewed directly on compatible Android 14 devices.
Google expects Ultra HDR to become the standard format in both its own camera app and camera modes in other apps. However, you need to wait for the release of the updated OS to know how it will work in practice.
Google is also preparing news about You+ and security.
Among other novelties that will also be present in Android 14 is the Material You + design. Among the novelties stands out the introduction of a monochrome theme, which will use the classic black and white colors. In addition, the Dynamic Color feature provides brighter colors and a wider gamut thanks to fidelity.
Another interesting feature is Dynamic Color’s ability to allow buttons to adapt and change color according to the elements displayed on the screen. In addition, the Material You platform also introduces high-contrast and medium-contrast themes, providing a more versatile visual experience that adapts to each user’s preferences.
Android 14 also brings important improvements in terms of user privacy and security. Users will now have greater control and will be able to grant partial or selective access to applications to view and use their media.
Another important measure implemented in Android 14 is the requirement that app developers clearly explain why and when location data is shared with third parties.
