The first drafts give a clear direction of where Microsoft wants to go. Now one would like to hear from the developers whether they share this vision.

Developers have been waiting for this for a long time, but Visual Studio is finally getting a visual redesign from Microsoft. Because earlier adjustments were often accompanied by many comments from developers, the software giant is now playing open cards.

What immediately catches the eye is a more modern, cohesive look. The new design breathes with more white space in the menus and a less busy row of buttons. With the redesign, Microsoft wants to focus more on the code on the screen and offer as little distraction as possible. Tabs get a round surface and accent colors, just like the tool windows. At first glance, everything seems rather subtle, but not every developer may have the same opinion.

In the Visual Studio blog, Microsoft notes improvements in the command bar, tool window Chrome menus, and document tabs. A separate ticket has also been created where developers can share comments or suggestions. You can view all changes in detail here.

The new Fluent theme system is the main reason Microsoft is revamping Visual Studio. There have been minor adjustments to the IDE in recent years, but since 2012 there has already been a really big redesign.
