Windows has released a new trial version with features that may soon be available on your hardware.
Microsoft has released a new insider build for Windows 11 with 22621.1776. It includes many features that may soon be available for devices working with the operating system.
Microsoft had previously announced that it would regularly roll out smaller updates with new features in Windows 11 during the official major upgrades. Now known as the Windows Moments. And this could be another such moment.
If you have the Release Preview build on your PC, you can find these new features in Settings under Windows Update.
A first new function is the content-adaptive brightness control. This means that Windows automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast of the screen as it transitions between dark and light images.
There will also be several options for the virtual touch keyboard. When you disconnect your Surface keyboard from Surface Pro tablet, you will immediately see a popup with this virtual keyboard. In the settings you have the option to make this permanently visible only when you remove the physical keyboard, or just never show it.
For security reasons, you now have the option to copy a two-step verification code that is sent via SMS when your phone is connected to your computer. This is done via Microsoft’s Phone Link phone app.
Some devices have sensors to perform certain functions automatically. Dim the screen when you are not at your computer, for example to save battery power. You can now adjust these settings yourself.
These are just a few of the many new features and adjustments to existing features. You can find the full list on a blog by Windows itself.
